BEFORE WE GET MARRIED - Why should we watch it?

This year,from May till august we got to watch an asian drama based on two couples cheating.
Cheating is a cruel crime on can commit as a human. 
Cheating is for the weak hearted. 
If you're being cheated on that's not your fault. 
If somebody cheats once, he will cheat again.

These are some of the stuffs which we all have heard in our lives. And they are true,  I won't deny. 
What forces a person to cheat?
Some have their reasons others simply don't. 
We have watched many dramas which tells the story of a person who was being cheated upon, but not the person who cheated. That person is always shown as a negative or a pathetic character.
That's what differentiates this drama from all the other ones.
Before we get married as the name suggests, makes us question the  basic foundation of a relationship and marriage.  What we want from our partner might not concide with theirs.

Before We Get Married (Chinese: 我們不能是朋友; pinyin: wo men bu neng shi peng you; literally: We Cannot Be Friends) is a 2019 Taiwanese television series created and produced by Gala Television and Jason's Entertainment. The story is adapted from an original novel of the same title, penned by the screenwriter Fang-Yun Tsai 蔡芳紜, or also known by her pen name Ayamei 阿亞梅, who is also the screenwriter of popular Taiwanese series Love @ Seventeen and Boysitter. Directed by Feng Kai, it stars Jasper Liu and Puff Kuo as the main cast, both are reunited for the second time after Taiwanese series Pleasantly Surprised.

Synopsis

The story starts with Zhou WeiWei and Chu KeHuan with their respective relationships. Zhou Weiwei is in a serious relationship with her earnest and average boyfriend Li HaoYi who works in the same company as her, however none of their colleagues is aware of their relationship because the company forbades office romance. Li HaoYi adheres to strict planning of their lives and WeiWei who is very thrify follows his plan faithfully. On the other hand, Chu kehuan is a capable and talented stock trader earmarked to be CEO of the securities company he is working for, he has been living with his lover Gao Ziyuan for 10 years, a beautiful woman who spends lavishly and devotes her life to him.

An unexpected meeting between Zhou Weiwei and Chu KeHuan leads to Chu being enamoured with her thrify principles and strong personality. Chu sets out to woo her while trying to breakup with girlfriend Gao Zi Yuan although Gao refuses to let him go. Gao ZiYuan happens to be the college classmate of Zhou WeiWei and so the path of the two couples started to cross. When Chu tried to sell his apartment, Zhou and Li stumbled upon it and were interested in the apartment although it was above their budget. Chu then made an indecent proposal for Zhou to spend a night with him in exchange for a huge discount off the apartment.

On a parallel story, Zhou's housemate Han Kefei is a completely different character, who doesnt believes in dating and enjoys having sexual fun with different men. However she is a loyal friend and urge Zhou to make a choice when she noticed that Zhou has feelings for Chu KeHuan.

After selling his apartment to Zhou and Li, both Chu and Gao were invited to the housewarming on the handover day. Zhou's appearance tempted Chu and so while Gao brought Li out to meet the neighbourhood committee, Chu kissed Zhou and tells her to make a choice. After Li came back to the apartment, he proposed to Zhou and Zhou accepted with Chu and Gao as witnesses. Chu was stunned and devastated. He decided on a clean break with Gao ZiYuan, but Gao started to find out that he and Zhou has some sort of relationship. Gao began kicking up a fuss around.

Zhou was resolute to put an end to any more entanglements with Chu, and moved into the new apartment with Li. In order to avoided both of them being fired due to their office romance, Li resigned and starts work with another company. Unbeknown to Zhou, Li's lady boss is actually interested in Li. As Li works ever longer hours, his relationship with Zhou started to falter. After a confrontation, Li promised Zhou to have a wedding in two months. However due to a new project overseas, Li asked to postpone their wedding for another 6 months and Zhou while battling her own attraction to Chu, broke down and cried.

By chance, Chu and Zhou's were assigned to work together on a project and despite Zhou's efforts to keep a distance, they ended up on a work trip together. Their feelings for each other were rekindled but Zhou still bound by her engagement to Li was torned. Zhou flew overseas to seek out Li, but discovered that Li isnt as devoted to their relationship anymore, she then decided to breakup with him.

In the end, Chu and Zhou finally reunited at a friend's wedding.

Review

I was very excited about this drama, and this drama exceeded my expectations in the first few episodes.

The chemistry between chu kehuan and zhou wei wei was intense and hot, and the storyline was also quiet understandable. Both were quite likeable characters , and so were the side characters like han kefei, david, ziyuan, and 321. Han kefei stands out the most with her flirty and sensual persona. Infact she entertained the audience more than the main leads did.( I loved her dressing sense!!!)

The whole drama has a very simple plot line so it is not difficult to understand at all. Rather its a good blend of romance, comedy, heart break and drama.

I would vote little on the drama portion though. Taiwan dramas are known for dragging their plots with excessive illogical dramatic scenes, and this drama was no exception.

As the story progessed it got more more annoying than ever. The writers could've added more to the storyline rather than focusing on drama.

Altogether its a good watch, as it makes us understand why does a person feels the need to cheat. Its a sin. But then being with someone who you don't love anymore just for the sake of their happiness is also a sin.

It doesn't justify cheating.  Zhou wei wei was feeling guilty throughout the drama. She felt the regret. And she didn't cross the line until she was completely free from her fiance.

It tells us, that even if you want to cheat, you shouldn't.  You should end the relationship with the current person and then pursue somebody else.

There are many relationship advices which this drama gives. Which is why one should give this drama a try.
